Tonight Erica and I are out and about so she can get Mr. Chris Pine, Captain Kirk himself to sign her Star Trek poster… Finally. Last time we met up with Mr. Pine I got two things signed but Erica got shafted. Sigh… You can read all about that Odyssey in the earlier posts. So tonight, Erica is determined to get her Star Trek poster signed, and I being the dutiful friend am escorting her… as well as getting a couple things signed for myself as well. This is also the same night Michael Jackson died, so we were bracing for horrible traffic, and mobbed streets because the theatre is next to the hospital where Michael died. Sigh…
9:54 p.m. – Erica and I arrive on the scene. Chris is in a play at the Geffen in Westwood. The play is called Farragut North and also stars Mr. Big, Chris Noth. I have my second Star Trek poster and Men’s Health magazine for Chris Pine and my Sex and the City Entertainment Weekly, and promo insert for Chris Noth. Traffic is really light; there are a few helicopters overhead, but not much action that’s for sure. A few people in the distance are marching and carrying signs mourning the loss of Michael.
10:01 p.m. – I have heard Chris Noth is not very friendly, so we’ll see how this goes. I know that Chris Pine is super cool and very friendly so I’m not worried about that. This is the same place where I met Alicia Silverstone a while back, so I know everyone exits out the front.
10:10 p.m. – The show is starting to let out now. There are some people milling about but the cast will probably take a little time to exit.
10:16 p.m. – Still nothing. Erica always comments on theatres and the elderly population that make up their subscription series. I actually like theatre, but have gotten really out of habit of going to see a play. It seems like I barely have time for anything these days. Well, except waiting on the street for Chris Pine that is. LOL…
10:22 p.m. – Some of the play’s cast members are milling about outside now. There is one other collector waiting here with us, but he really isn’t saying much.
10:27 p.m. – Chris Noth just exited. He is talking with some cast members, so we’re going to wait until he finished his conversation.
10:33 p.m. – Okay, Chris is about to finish his cigarette, and Erica starts talking to him briefly. He’s not very social, and hesitantly signs her poster, then I ask him, and he does it. When I ask him for a picture he looks at me like I’m a rabid freak. He does it, but is not happy. Wow… Okay…
10:41 p.m. – Chris Noth just left and more people are milling out. Chris Pine is taking his time coming out that’s for sure.
10:56 p.m. – Okay, Zachary Quinto just popped out the front door. Wow, who would have thought? I already got him on my other poster so I didn’t bother to try and get him on this one. That’s okay no worries.
11:04 p.m. – There are a few more people leaving now, this has to be Chris… Wait, who’s that? Erica hits me in the arm. She’s goes, “Mike… That’s Leonard Nimoy.” At this point everything stops. I’m quite shocked… I don’t know what’s happening. Erica, who I think is now fearless goes up and talks to Mr. Nimoy and the other people in their party. They were asking about Michael Jackson and what happened while they were in the play. Watching this interaction was like watching Spock get the prefix code for the Reliant in Star Trek II. All in slow motion.
11:06 p.m. – I’m finally coming to and join Erica. She asks Mr. Nimoy for an autograph, and he signs her poster and mine as well. Of course I didn’t bring the poster with everyone else on it, so now I have to start all over again with this cast… grrr I then ask Mr. Nimoy for a photo, and again I’m in and out of conscious thought. He was nice enough to pose for a pic with me as well. Of course Erica took a blurry pic. Sigh… It’s still good though.
11:15 p.m. – I’m in shock. Really….
11:20 p.m. – Oh my God, I just met Leonard Nimoy. I have to call everyone I have ever known right now.
11:23 p.m. – Chris Pine is coming out now. Getting him is kinf of anticlimactic now, but still cool. I had to get him on my Star Trek poster now that Mr. Nimoy signed it, and I also got him on my Men’s Health. Erica and I both got pics with him, but I look terrible in mine so I am not sharing it with anyone. I was still in Nimoy awe! Thank God for Erica, because she was able to talk to Leonard, and make sense out of the situation when I just froze. I mean the man is an icon for God sakes! Sigh… Wow, what a night to be in Westwood. Michael Jackson dies, I get to meet the original Spock and new Kirk. Man oh man…
