Box Office Breakdown! The Fault In Our Stars Soars! Edge Of Tomorrow Whimpers! Maleficent Flies Strong!
Who knew a teenaged tear jerker would take the top spot? The Fault in our Stars came in at number one with $48.2 million ending my 9 week winning streak. With a modest budget of $18 million, this love story is a certified hit.
Well, well – Maleficent took the number two spot right out from under Tom Cruise. Disney’s live action blockbuster took in $33.5 million, bringing its worldwide gross to $335 million.
Edge of Tomorrow opened at number three with just $29 million. It’s worldwide gross of $111 million is far behind its bloated $178 million budget.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is still kicking box office ass with $14.7 million to add to its $189 million domestic gross.
A Million Ways to Die in the West barely had a pulse at number five with $7.1 million. Perhaps Seth should stick to animation and not hosting the Oscars.
Godzilla conquered another $5.9 million at number six, adding to its $393 million worldwide gross. Smashing!
Neighbors borrowed a cup of mega hit with $5.2 million at number seven. The R rated comedy has grossed $223 million worldwide minus a tiny budget of just $18 million.
Adam Sandler’s Blended was slushy at number eight with $4 million and a domestic total of $36 million.
Chef whipped up another $2.6 million at number nine bringing this indie’s domestic total to $10.3 million.
Million Dollar Arm pitched a no hitter and rounded out the top ten with $1.8 million.

Until then, happy movie going.
