The 2024 SAG Awards Nominations Are Out! Full List! Snubs! Surprises! And More!

The SAG Awards have been announced this morning… and after a long and hard fought strike, this is the first year that the nominations cross over into Emmy territory, those awards being pushed from the WGA strike. Whew…

The SAG Award nominations are voted on by a randomly selected group of 2000 SAG voters and then voting heads to the overall main voting body. (full disclosure, I am a member)

In past years, this is the voting body who is the best precursor to the Oscars, sharing a voting body with the Academy. In years past, many eventual Oscar winners were selected by the Screen Actors Guild first.

Some notable shutouts, include Saltburn, the polarizing film, which apparently didn’t catch on with voters. Leonardo DiCaprio failed to get a nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon, Fantasia was not nominated for her work in The Color Purple, yet Penelope Cruz did get in for Ferrari.
