‘Weta Cave’ Movie-Prop Workshop Expands for Tour Groups
In a bid to cater to growing demand from tour groups for a peek into Wellington’s world-renowned film-making industry, Weta Workshop said Friday it is expanding the Weta Cave experience to cater to larger groups.
Guarded by enormous Orc statues, the original cave gives people a chance to see and sometimes handle costumes, armor, prosthetics and other props – including full scale tanks and aircraft as well as intricate miniatures – used in some of their favorite movies as well as to meet some of the artists as they work.
Gay Idols Converge at Star-Studded Meet-and-Greet
“I’m a gay camp icon,” Oscar winner Tatum O’Neal told me a couple of weeks ago, paraphrasing a recent vice.com mention about her. “So what’s the campiest thing you’ve ever done?” I asked. “This show!” she responded, laughing.
It was a sprawling autograph show called Chiller Theatre, held twice a year in the Parsippany, New Jersey Sheraton, and Tatum was just one of the idols positioned at tables throughout the main floor and selling photos and other memorabilia to the masses. The weekend gig does have a camp element to it, especially when you bump into old starlets from 1960s monster movies walking around in very dark glasses, but mainly it’s a sincere and loving chance for fans to pay back their favorite stars—literally.

Snubbing fans, partying, and drinking champagne from a shoe: Disastrous meet and greet with Brody Jenner sees TV star ‘freak out’ before promoters offer refund
It was meant to be a brush with a visiting star, but US TV personality Brody Jenner left patrons at Sydney’s Peachtree Hotel fuming after reportedly refusing to meet guests who’d paid to meet him.
The former The Hills star, who is step-brother to Kim Kardashian, was seen spraying bottles of champagne and drinking out of a shoe, before ‘Brody freaked out half way through his meet and greets,’ a fan reported on Instagram. ‘No more photos were allowed with him’.
Tiger Woods blew off a young Johnny Manziel’s autograph request
Golf Digest’s December coverboy is Johnny Manziel, and it turns out that he’s pretty good at the sport. (Cue jokes about how he’s had plenty of time to practice lately.) In the issue’s cover story, Manziel talks about how his father is a golf nut who still beats him every time, and how he’s “about a 7- or 8-handicap right now.”
