Fanboying The Warner Bros Backlot! Friends Set! Stars Hollow! True Blood! Dark Knight! Props! Costumes! Oh My!
One of my favorite places in all of California to visit is the Warner Bros backlot. It’s such a fun place to visit and whenever I get the chance I jump at it.
My friend Scott and I decided to visit one of the most iconic places on the lot first, the Jungle .
This is where Merlot’s from True Blood is located,
where Gilmore Girls shot tons of stuff over the years, and where the T-Rex chase in Jurassic Park was shot.
True Blood never used the interiors of the building, which I always thought was funny
The lagoon wasn’t filled in, so it was a dry pit the day we were there.
The next structure on the Jungle is where Million Dollar Baby was shot. It’s amazing what camera angles and set decorations will do. There’s a greenhouse on the back where a lot of Pretty Little Liars fans will no doubt recognize.
One of the houses from Pretty Little Liars was also set up.
One of the newer spots of the lot is the residential street. Heart of Dixie and Pretty Little Liars use this for filming a lot. When it’s not in use, the houses hold offices for other shows.
Then we hit the batman display at the museum. All the films were represented and it was something to see.
Harry Potter was still upstairs as well.
Yes, I got sorted!
We headed to the urban area. Next. This is where the original Annie was shot. It was also used in Vacation, Rent, Two Broke Girls, and tons more.
This is where the upside down kiss in Spider-Man was done.
We headed to Stars Hollow next. I mean, where Star Hollow was shot. This house was also the entrance to the motel in Elvira Mistress of the Dark.
Elvira’s house was torn down however. 🙁
The Growing Pains house is still here and looks the same.
And we got to see The Gilmore house.
At the main square the gazebo was set up.
And the iconic church used in so many films, from The Walton’s, to Elvira, to Heart of Dixie.
And who did we spy… Chestnut! Yep, the horse from Two Broke Girls! That’s a photo op that Pinky doesn’t have!
We headed to the prop department where the Friends set was set up. We were able to sit on the couch and get some pictures. It looks very cool in person.
There were also some cool props from The Matrix, Miss Congeniality, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more on display as well.
The Mystery Machine was out as well. Scooby Dooby Doooooooo!
One of the coolest things was being able to see all the Batman cars. It was a brilliant set up!
And then we headed home. It was a fun day at the lot.
While we did our own tour, Warner Bros does offer a tour, which is very good!
Until next time kids…
