Karalee headed out to get soapy! As in soap opera soapy… The stars of Days of Our Lives were out and about doing some promotional appearances and Karalee had to be there!
She has a great recap below…
So, like the proverbial sands through the hourglass… Check it out below!
Like sands through the hourglass, these are the “Days of Our Lives.”
You don’t have to be a soap opera fan to know this classic line. I grew up watching this NBC sudser and when I learned that Deidre Hall (“Dr. Marlena Evans”) and John Aniston (“Victor Kiriakis”) were making a local appearance, I decided to venture out. They are promoting the new book, Days of Our Lives Better Living: Cast Secrets for a Healthier, Balanced Life.
I am hoping for a photo with both stars, but will be more than happy with one. Daytime fans are fiercely loyal, so I’m not surprised to see a sizable crowd when I arrive. I scope out what I hope will be a good spot (near the stage but closer to the celebrity entrance/exit).
Deidre and John are escorted into the filming area.
Deidre waves and gestures excitedly to the crowd. Some fans are screaming “Marlena! Marlena! I watch you every day!”
John is a bit more reserved, but hey, the man is 80 years old; not like anyone expected him to be doing cartwheels. (Side note: Being in the same space as the father of one of my all-time faves, Jennifer Aniston, was kind of a treat in and of itself.)
After they’re done taping, Deidre greets the crowd — which received free copies of the book — and signs several autographs.
She doesn’t come to my area, so my hope for a photo with her quickly vanishes.
I turn my attention to John, who is standing to the side, an assistant helping to remove his microphone. The crowd is primarily focused on Deidre. While they’re screaming and waving for her attention, I call out John’s name and wave. We make eye contact and I ask him if I can get a photo with him. He pauses for a moment and then shrugs his shoulders as if to say, “Sure, why the fruit not?” He slowly ambles toward me and I get the camera ready for a selfie. “Who is going to take the picture?” he asks. I tell him I’m going to try to take it myself. I can tell he’s skeptical. Then a super-nice security guard offers to take the photo for us. I thank John for coming over and tell him I’m a big fan. I refrain for proclaiming my love for his daughter.
I like to call this, “Very Likely the Only Photo with an Aniston I’ll Ever Get.” And truly, I couldn’t be happier about it. I’ve loved “Victor’s” shenanigans for years and to have had this daytime icon be so kind, well, he truly made my day.
Thanks for letting me share…catch ya on the flip side!
