Manic Mondays! Pinky Breaks The Ice! Meeting Lynn-Holly Johnson From Ice Castles! 1970s Sweetness! Autographs! Photos!
God bless Manic Mondays! I love them. Even though they fall on a Monday, which generally speaking for everyone it’s hard to get back with the weekend over. This past weekend was the Hollywood Show and I think I missed all my friends who went this year!
The saucy Ms. Pinky had been talking for weeks about how excited she was to meet Lynn-Holly Johnson. Now, I freely admit that I’ve never seen Ice Castles which hurts to be honest since I consider myself a 1980’s aficionado… I’m going to have to check it out!
However, this is not my time, It’s Ms. Pinky’s time. So before she left for the cold arctic tundra of the Sundance Film Festival she wrote up today’s Manic Monday!
Check it out after the jump!

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy here grateful for The Hollywood Show for making it possible to meet our favorite stars. That’s one of the best things about fandom – everyone has their own people they’re geeked out over. While Mikey was thrilled about the guys from “Grease 2,” I was most excited about meeting the illustrious Lynn-Holly Johnson from the heartbreaking movie “Ice Castles.”
The original film (a remake was done a few years ago – but the original is already perfect, so I refuse to watch it) came out in 1978 (when I was five….ahem….) and I remember watching it over and over and over again as a little girl.
Lynn-Holly Johnson played the role of Alexis who was an up and coming ice skater from a small town. Just as she’s getting her big break (warning, spoiler alert, but it came out over 30 years ago, so I’m not going to apologize), she has a skating accident and loses her sight.
This is a film about second chances, finding your way, and staying true to yourself. Of course, it didn’t hurt that her love interest was played by Robby Benson. YUM! I wish he’d been at The Hollywood Show, as well!
Meeting Lynn-Holly Johnson was a real treat. She was kind, beautiful, and was sweet enough to stop and take a picture with me on the way out as I didn’t see her until she was right about to leave. Thank goodness I made it, since that was my main reason for going. Never in a million years did I think I’d have the opportunity to meet her and I can’t believe how gorgeous she still is. So cool.
