Wait… TWO Pleasant Natalie Portman Encounters? Say What! Andrew Talks About Meeting Natalie Portman At Comic Con In 2005! V For Vendetta Awesomeness!
I love this!! I was literally about to shut down my laptop when I decided to check my email. Low and behold MTF reader Andrew sent in his encounter with Natalie Portman at the 2005 Comic Con! Now, I have been going to comic con since gosh… It feels like forever. Honestly, I never even heard about this signing and only heard about it in the years since.
I think my mini poster is worse because this photo is clearly very early on in the promotional onslaught. It’s pretty cool though. The way I look at it, any Natalie Portman at this point is a good Natalie Portman! LOL…
Check out Andrew’s encounter with Ms. Black Swan after the jump!!

Hello!
In response to your recent article:
Awesome article and you are very lucky. I never knew Portman had a reputation for being a bad signer until recently… I got to meet Natalie Portman at the 2005 comic con when she was promoting V for Vendetta.
But like in your situation the signing wasn’t announced. I was just walking in a hall minding my own business when 2 people walked up with a small bag full of raffle tickets and said “pick one” to me, so I did and wouldn’t you know it, I pulled out a yellow ticket with a big SILVER “V” written on the back, I was like “what’s it for?” and they said “its for the V for Vendetta Portman signing”.
At the signing there was only like 50 of us and all were guys pretty much. And security said out loud in a wannabe cop sort of voice “MS.PORTMAN WILL NOT BE SIGNING ANY STAR WARS ITEMS! NO PICTURES! NO CONVERSATIONS!” …wow.
Anyways I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS… as I went up there I smiled at her (because I didn’t know what the hell else to do) and she smiled back and asked my name. I said Andrew and she signed my picture “Andrew, Natalie Portman XO”
I said “Thank you, and Thank you for doing this for us fans” She said “You’re welcome and smiled again”. It was one of my first ever celebrity encounters at the Comic Con and it was awesome, just too bad security has to ruin the moment a little.
I love your site thanks for sharing so many cool stories with us fans.
(Editor’s Note: Thanks so much Andrew! And thank you for sharing your story! I love it when people write in! It makes my day!!! 🙂 M-)

AWESOME Andrew!
Love the item you got her on! Though it was another Comic Con encounter at least you got her on a good item! I guess Comic Con is the only way you’re going to get Portman to sign. So be it.
Yeah. John, like Susan said in the last Portman thread, she could’ve been indifferent or rude to the people at the signing. Seems like she was nice on both counts.
So next time she does an unscheduled CC signing… hopefully she’ll be nice then too.
Andrew: This is cool to finally see what she signed. My friends and I knew about this signing and were unable to get the wristband. My friends and I practically knew everyone who handled the autograph drawings in the Sails Pavillion and did whatever we could to find out about the signing. My friend Steve got the tip after he literally flirted with the effeminate Autograph Sails Pavillion guy for 10 minutes and agreed to have drinks with him even though he’s straight. We knew the WHEN and WHERE, but still couldn’t get tickets as we waited outside the signing room for 45 minutes. Even after all these years it’s quite bitter to discuss, but I’m finally glad to know she was a sweetheart at the signing. Thanks for posting this Andrew!
