Fanboy Fail Fridays! Gael García Bernal! Missing The Y Tu Mamá También Star! Apparently He Hates Me As He Signs Autographs For Everyone AROUND Me! Doh!
Oh the Fanboy Fail! It happens to the best of us. Sometimes even when people around us are happy as a clam we get the proverbial shaft. Doh!
That was kind of what this day was like. Scotty and I are both huge fans of Y Tu Mamá También. It is one of the best films I have seen, it’s an amazing coming of age story and I just love it.
One of the stars of Y Tu Mamá También is Gael García Bernal and he was out promoting a new film at a local talk show. Well, I had to go.
Now, I had gotten Gael García Bernal before on my mini poster for Y Tu Mama’ Tambien and he was cordial and there were no problems. So, I figure hey, this is going to be easy!
When I arrived there were about 10-15 people waiting, again, not too bad. I can’t complain. Scotty was there with his DVD cover. I had a couple vintage magazines for Gael García Bernal and generally speaking when you have older stuff or rare stuff the celebrity likes it.
So, the clock was ticking.
It was a tad chilly, but you know I’m not going to complain. It was nice not being sandwiched in the barricade for once and herded in like cattle.
Finally the door opens and out pops Gael García Bernal.
Maybe it’s me, and seriously I never noticed this before, but Gael García Bernal is a short guy. I didn’t notice it before but wow, I did today. He walks on over and honestly, I hate when there are only a few people and the publicist acts like there’s a fire. “We gotta go! We Gotta go!” Really? Who’s about to die? Cause all it takes is picking up a pen signing a few things and heading out. It’s not THAT HARD… Let’s repeat… IT’S NOT THAT HARD!
Well, Gael García Bernal is apparently really picky about what he signs, because he signed Scotty’s DVD, much to his dissatisfaction as it was a black pen on a dark cover. I have my vintage magazine out and I’m like Gael García Bernal can you please sign the magazine.
I think he might have said nope! and walked right on by. LOL… I was like seriously.
For the 10 – 15 of us I think he signed eight things.
Because you know why? He’s in a hurry! He had to go!
Yeah… And guess what, those vintage Interview magazines are STILL sitting unsigned in my magazine collection! Doh!
Ah well… What can you do right?
Until next time kids…

I get it when there’s 100 people and you they just can’t sign for everyone. But signing 10 out of 15, or one out of two – why bother at all?
That bugs me when that happens! Still, can’t believe he wouldn’t sign a vintage magazine!
I just saw the video of Tom Cruise. Looks like he started at the fence and those are the last people to arrive, then went to the barricade and stopped about 7 people before the end of it. They were probably the first people there. So frustrating. Did anyone here go?
Hold your horses! There will be full report!
And everyone was there early. It was nuts!
yeah hate it when there’s only a few people and they still rush them like there’s an emergency
