I Finally Get To Meet Acting Legend Ms. Sally Field! And FINISH My Steel Magnolias Poster! Autographs! Photos! And More!

There are days… Days when you have to take the fandom to new heights, days when you just can not accept anything less than success… today… Today is one of those days! I have been working on my Steel Magnolias mini poster for so so so so so long probably about six years now. The one person I need? Sally Field. Sally is out promoting the new movie The Amazing Spider-Man and I have to get her to finish this poster.

Wish… Me… Luck!

2:22 p.m. – Okay, so I arrived. Sally Field is doing a rare talk show appearance and after some insanity at work. I may have started pacing, bit my nails and freaked out… Just a little… Everyone at work said, “You know Mike, maybe you should go ahead. So, here I am!

2:32 p.m. – And there’s no one here! LOL… Well… you never know! Sometimes I think, “No one will care about so and so…” and then a horde of hungry autograph dealers goes mad for them declaring, “They’re rare! I need!”

2:43 p.m. – Still alone Scotty is picking up some poster boards because he is making some of his patented signs. This is full tilt crazy times kids…

3:09 p.m. – Sally Field is the only member of Steel Magnolias I need. I might have to do some flashbacks with the rest of the people. Man, it’s been a long journey so if it doesn’t happen today I’m going to be a tad sad…

3:19 p.m. – Oh, a couple other arrivals. I’m not alone now. Wow, just after 3 is so early to arrive. Not that I can talk but I’m only here super early once in a while.

3:45 p.m. – Scotty is here. He made 6… Yes six signs. One that says “We Like you”

and then he spelled out S-A-L-L-Y. Wow…

4:01 p.m. – Okay, we’ve decided that we’re going to shorten the signage, so now we have one sign that says, “We like you”

the second says, “We really really like you”

with the final sign that says, “Sally.”

Scotty whipped these up in a hot second. He’s a great sign maker!

4:32 p.m. – Waka Flocka Flame has just arrived. There are only a few of us here and some people yell for him. Waka Flocka Flame waves us over and does photos and signs lol…

4:36 p.m. – I couldn’t resist getting a photo with Waka. I mean… It’s just kind of funny right? We came for Sally Field and got Waka Flocka Flame!

5:01 p.m. – A woman is walking by with pants that looks like muscles. Lol… God bless fashion.

5:22 p.m. – The barricade is up. Scotty and I are in good spots. Honestly, there are only about 10 people here so it’s not like we’re slammed together. That’s always nice…

5:43 p.m. – Erica just arrived. We squeezed her in next to me. She has her Soapdish laserdisc cover.

6:08 p.m. – I brought my Soapdish mini poster and also my Eye For An Eye mini poster. You never know.

6:45 p.m. – Okay, so I think that Sally went in, but we didn’t see her. Sigh… I’m a tad mad at myself. How did we all miss Sally Field?!?!? What sucks is that even if she didn’t sign she would at least know that we were here waiting for her!

7:11 p.m. – It’s so frakkin windy. I mean I feel like I’m going to fly away…. Like the Flying Nun!!

7:19 p.m. – Scotty has a Steel Magnolias one sheet poster and a Murphy’s Romance VHS cover for Sally. I know VHS! LOL…

7:45 p.m. – Still nothing. But it should be soon. I’m just hoping that Sally leaves before Woka Flocka Flame starts playing.

7:56 p.m. – Oh, something is happening… It’s Sally Field! She’s leaving! We are all going crazy. Sally waves but it looks like she’s heading towards the door. We all start pleading. Sally looks and starts to read our signs and then she comes over!!!!!

7:57 p.m. – As she walks over Sally says, “You guys are crazy!” Scotty says, “Crazy for Sally Field!” She signs Scotty’s poster and then his VHS cover.

I tell Sally were to sign the Steel Magnolias poster, and I think I started babbling about how I’ve been working on this for six years. She signed it perfectly

and then I had her sign the Soapdish mini poster.

Erica says to Sally, “When he heard that you were in Spider-Man he wasn’t excited for the movie, he was excited that he might actually get to meet you!” Sally was like, “really?” LOL…

Sally’s publicist said to the security guard, “I only want her to sign one each… and then says, except for those guys (she points to us) they’re fine!” lol…

Erica gets her laserdisc signed and then I asked Sally to sign my Eye for an Eye mini poster.

She looks at it and was like, “okay!” lol.. Then Sally continues down the line. Scotty got a photo with her and I wasn’t able to.

Then Sally is about to leave and I was like, “Wait! Can I please get a photo.” Sally was like, Sure sweetie! And then I got my photo as well….

She was so so so so so so so nice! I’m so excited! I have to tell you, I already have my Steel Magnolias poster framed on my wall. After six years, my Steel Magnolias mini poster is finished! Sigh… I’m so stoked!
