Last night, I, along with a team of friends, was invited to the third annual Thirst Gala. This gala was put together to help provide funding for the Thirst Project, which helps bring clean water to communities and families who otherwise would not have fresh drinking water.
And yes… I had to get dressed up.. In a suit… I know, that’s crazy right! It’s almost opposite night here at Mike The Fanboy, we’re INVITED, not waiting outside, but going into an event… Opposite day!
I honestly didn’t expect to be Fanboying the event tonight but when I saw one person on the guest list I about lost it. None other than Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Veronica Mars star Charisma Carpenter. Yep! Cordelia Chase! At the same party as me! If I hadn’t already been drinking I would have sworn I was having a hot flash!
So, I made my friends Roach, Justin and someone you may know from reading her column… Christine, AKA The Movie Maven hang out with me for a second…
I had to get a photo with Charisma Carpenter before heading inside because really how could I enjoy the party knowing that Cordelia Chase was in the house?
We hung around for a few seconds and there she was. I walked up Charisma and told her what a huge Buffy fan I was and how I loved her in Veronica Mars as well. She was so nice! Maybe it’s the suit, who knows. lol… Charisma and I snapped a quick photo and talked for a hot second about Buffy. Swoon…
Okay, my night was made.
We all headed inside along with one of the coolest chicks I know Ms. Kaci… Well… I don’t know if I would say cool… But for lack of a better term we’ll go with that… We sat down and snapped a few quick photos at the table.
Kaci remarked about the flower arrangements and how she was planning on stealing one. I don’t think she could have fit it in her dress… Although the sheer thought of it made me laugh.
The venue was inside the Beverly Hilton which immediately made me go wait… This is where the Golden Globes are held! Then I wanted to feel the carpet because… think about it… how many stars walked on this carpet… I mean that’s pretty cool. I reserved myself. I was on my best Fanboy behavior.
The evenings host was Pauley Perrette from NCIS. I’ve known Pauley to be super fan friendly and I’m sure tonight would be no exception. She looked too adorable, just as a side note I had to say it.
There was plenty of drinks, wine, amazing food and a very interesting overview of what The Thirst Project is all about. In a nutshell The Thirst Project is committed to building and maintaining freshwater wells in developing countries. Many times people have to walk three or four miles to get freshwater in these countries but the wells that The Thirst Project is building allows people to better develop their region and live healthier lives.
In fact Justin and Roach both donated money for a well! You go guys!
Make sure and check out the Thirst Project and all the good they are doing. All donations go directly into building the wells and all administration costs are covered by their board of directors. Very impressive.
After the event I spotted Desperate Housewives star Andrea Bowen. We chatted for a few minutes about the end of the series and then snapped a quick photo. Andrea was super nice and I wish I had my poster for Desperate Housewives that I’ve been working on but alas I didn’t bring it in… Even though whipping that out would have been odd… Still as you can tell from the photo I had a few drinks in me. lol…
After the event Kaci really wanted to meet Jason Ritter who was also supporting the cause and so knowing how awesome he is, I made Kaci snap a pic with him.
Both Justin and roach met up with Pauley Perrette who was so nice to them.
Roach found Audrina Patridge from The Hills… and got a quick photo with her as well.
Overall, it was a really fun night with a great group of friends supporting a wonderful cause. Guys, I can’t encourage you more to check out the wonderful work the Thirst Project is doing by visiting their website!
Until next time kids…
