It’s Awards Season here in Los Angeles and that means people are out and about promoting their various movies and also themselves.
Today there was a last minute q and a with two hard to get stars: Keira Knightley and Benedict Cumberbatch. Now, I’ve seen Keira Knightley a few times and she’s never been nice. Like… Wow.. She’s not nice. LOL. The film they are promoting is The Imitation Game.
I’m honestly, not expecting THAT much out of today, but it’s not far, and it shouldn’t be much of a time commitment.
I need Keira on my Love Actually mini poster, and I also have a poster for Bend it Like Beckham. I love that movie! For Benedict I have an Empire magazine from Star Trek: Into Darkness and a mini poster for that movie as well.
When I arrived, I noticed Billy Beer’s new facial hair… God bless Billy. a
There aren’t that many people, just Billy Beer, OTG John and myself. Then as if everyone got a memo, we had about 20 people.
As time got closer, everyone formed a line for the most part, which really organized everything. I’m telling you, this really helps because instead of a free for all, people behave themselves.
The first car arrives and it’s the director of the film, Morten Tyldum. He goes right inside because no one calls for him.
Then, about five minutes later a car pulls up and it’s Keira Knightley.
I heard the driver say, “Wow, they’re all lined up.” Keira Knightley looked over and walked up to the first person and said, “I’ll do one each.”
You could have bowled me over. Now, Her signature has amounted to little more than a squiggle, but she went down the line and did one each for the most part.
Now, her autograph, it was so bad, it’s literally a wonky looking squiggle,
but I can say I got Keira Knightley on my Love Actually poster, so… I guess that’s good right.
Then Allen Leech arrived, he was in Downton Abbey as well. He was super nice.
He took pictures with anyone who asked, and even our own Fu Manchu Billy Beer got one.
The time was ticking down, and still no Benedict Cumberbatch. Then the other actors went inside the theater for the q and a. Literally, the q and a started and no Benedict.
Our only hope was if Benedict would do it after.
Benedict arrived, said hello and popped inside, he barely said anything to us at all. Doh.
Well, we only had about 20 minutes to wait.
Billy still had his shock face on that Keira Knightley signed!
Once the q and a let out, everyone inside left and then it was a free for all.
Keira went right to the car, Benedict signed one thing and took off.
And that, as we say is that.
While it’s not the most majestic signature, at least it’s something right?
Until next time kids…
