Happy holidays kids!
With everything going on in my life right now, I asked the lovely Ms. Pinky… Coogan (!) to put together a little Thanksgiving post for you all.
I did want to add a couple things however. First a huge thanks to everyone who has sent me well wishes via comments, facebook, email, etc… about my grandma. Seriously, it means so much to me!
And a huge thanks to my friends and family who have to put up with my craziness right now. LOL… You guys humble me. Without a doubt, I don’t know what I did or do to deserve you in my life.
A final huge thanks to all the MTF Family and MTF Readers, you guys are awesome! And I’m touched by everything. Every time I get a new submission, story, etc… I get so excited, because I love reading all your adventures even more than I like sharing mine. It’s the truth.
Have a wonderful holiday and cherish the people around you. Time is short, trust me.
So with that… Take it away Ms. Pinky!
Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here full of gratitude and thanksgiving.
To kick off this holiday season right, I thought I’d reflect on the Top Ten Things I’m Thankful For
(in no particular order):
10) YOU, THE READER. Our site would not be possible without loyal and faithful readers and we’d like to thank you for taking time out of your busy lives to share in our triumphs, our heartbreaks, and our funny stories. Thank you for reading our stories, sharing your experiences, leaving your comments, and saying hi to us when you see out and about.
Our “collecting community” is made better through shared experiences and it’s always nice to know that no matter what happens, good or bad, you’re there to lend an ear. So, thank you.
9) MY JOB.
I’ve been working for the past few years at a job I love (thank you, again, to Suddenly Susan, for the job tip when I was searching) and I’m so happy to be somewhere that inspires me, challenges me, and also allows me the freedom I need to do this crazy hobby.
The fact that it’s a really cool company with great perks is just icing on the cake.
While it’s true I was born and raised in California, I did veer off into unchartered territory for a long time and only moved back to my beloved home state a few years ago. But no matter where I go, I always want to come home to California – to the gorgeous beaches, the perfect weather, and, of course, its proximity to all things Hollywood. What could be more perfect than that?
7) MY HEALTH.
Obviously this is a boring and too-often-used answer when asked what one is grateful for, but it’s also the truth. As I hit the ripe old age of 40 this year, I feel like I’ve seen far too many people pass away at a young age. I’m thankful for my health, my ability to run myself ragged, stress myself out, and still recover (although it might just take a little longer now).
6) THE COLOR PINK.
Humor me here. Pinky isn’t just my nickname, it’s a state of mind. There are very few things I love more than the color pink and its calming nature has the ability to make me smile regardless of my mood. Hot pink, light pink, neon pink…I love them all.
There’s no such thing as “too much pink” in my world. That’s just how it is.
5) MY IPHONE.
Yes, I realize there are far more things I could be grateful for, but what else keeps me connected to all my friends and family, stores and takes awesome pictures/videos, let’s me go online anywhere at any time (allowing me to imdb whatever random celebrity I may run into at the drop of a hat), and, most importantly (did I really just say that?), connects me with Candy Crush on a daily basis
(OK, OK, I’ll admit it: I’m obsessed).
4) MY FRIENDS.
I’ve been blessed in my life to have a large but tight knit circle of friends. Actually, there’s more than one circle. There are several. As an incredibly loyal person, I like to keep friendships forever if possible, which is obvious by the number of close friends I still have from grade school, Junior High, High School, and college (not to mention the ones I still meet – especially in the collecting circles).
I’m so lucky to have met such wonderful people who love me, support me, and always “have my back.”
My life would be infinitely more boring without them.
3) MY FAMILY.
Again, a tried-and-true answer, but, still, a valid one.
With the addition of my new in-laws, I’ve got even more family than I started the year with and I’m super excited to create new traditions with them.
2) MY HOBBY.
I have to admit that there are times when this hobby of mine (collecting pictures with celebrities) seems silly when compared to other important things (like ending world peace), but I still contend that it’s harmless fun and definitely leaves me with a bunch of interesting stories. This past year has been a banner one in many ways – not just by the incredible people I’ve wanted to meet forever (like Will Ferrell,
and Carol Burnett to name a few),
but also because I was able to meet my husband from doing my hobby. Nothing like combining a few of your favorite things! If you’d told me years ago that doing “my picture thing” would lead me to meet the love of my life, I’d have called you crazy, yet here I am, one month into marital bliss, and I have this crazy hobby to thank for it.
1) MY HUSBAND, KEITH.
I’m not sure what good thing I did in a past life to deserve such an amazing man, but Keith is everything I hoped for in a husband and lifelong love.
Sure, it may have taken a little longer to find each other, but I can assure you that he was worth the wait. In the past eight months, we’ve already been to 13 different states together, including Hawaii, which had always been a dream of mine, and started several projects together.
I still pinch myself on a daily basis that this is all real, but so far it’s everything I hoped it would be and even more.
I hope your holidays are happy and filled with the ones you love and that you always hold a spirit of gratitude in your heart.
