Russell headed off and attended the premiere of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I hear that the movie is amazing. The world premiere was held in San Francisco where the movie is set! A lot of the stars were there including Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis and more.

This week was a red carpet for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that was being held at the Palace of Fine Arts. For those of you that have never been there….one of the nicest landmarks in San Francisco and there are many a wedding pictures taken here.
Since I was not familiar with the set up we arrived around 5pm to check it out and surprisingly none of the usual crowd was here. Security barricaded most of the area and really the only place you could go was up on the street near the stairs leading to the carpet and the barricades were about 15 yards from the drop off, so not bad.
Arrivals started at 6pm it said on Twitter. Now I didn’t know much of the cast except for about 6 and without the usual folks here I knew I wouldn’t recognize the C/D-listers and sure enough after the night we missed about 3.
The security told us to stay back and if the cast calls us over we could approach. So first one up was Matt Reeves who we called and he motioned to us. Keep in mind there were really only my son and I and a few that just wanted pictures of Andy Serkis. Next was Karin Konoval and Terry Notary and they had their names to the passenger front window of the SUV which is the only reason why we knew who they were. Same routine and they were both so nice as I doubt they get to sign much (she plays Maurice and he plays Rocket)
Next was Gary Oldman and he came in a van with a bunch of family it seems.
Then Judy Greer (I really wanted her and brought some 13 going on 30 pictures) arrived and I had tweeted her the day before asking if she was coming and she favorited it. When I asked her about it, she said “Told you I was coming”. She was really nice and signed anything we had.
Andy Serkis was next and most people wanted pics with him and he obliged to the 4 of us and signed the 2 things (the security guard commented “I wish all red carpets were like this”….I told him he wouldn’t have a job if they were….and he laughed).
We must’ve missed Jason Clarke as he probably arrived when Judy came. The only one left was Kerri Russell and she arrived pretty late at 645pm, but she came over and signed but said she was too late to take pictures.
Anyway, that was that and we decided to go eat some dinner and come back and see if we could get Jason Clarke. Since this was the world premiere this was the first time the cast was seeing the finished product so they all stayed for the 2 hours. So around 930 we came back and there was an after party there and I was tempted to call it a night. But as luck would have it we spotted Jason Clarke having a cigarette outside after the movie
and we were able to get him on our cast shot as well and call it a night.
