It’s Throwback Thurs!
With John Wick 2 opening this week, and I’m so excited to see it, just an FYI, I thought it would be an awesome Throwback Thurs. How can you not love Keanu? I mean the dude is the man.
Plus, he’s always been pretty cool to fans, which is something I appreciate.
Check out Throwback Thurs below!
What a day, what a world, and what a wild ride.
One of my favorite actors is Keanu Reeves. I know what you’re going to say, but dude… He’s Neo, He’s Ted “Theodore” Logan, He’s John Wick (which Rocked), and some of the movies he’s been in like Parenthood, Constantine (Why there wasn’t a sequel to this is beyond me), The Devil’s Advocate, Speed, Point Break, and he was in Paula Abdul’s Rush, Rush video which coincidentally was on the radio and I drove over.
Plus, I have my Bill and Ted shirt on today! What can go wrong?
Keanu and legendary director Guillermo del Toro were on the same talk show, and I had to go.
It was hot, it was sticky and there were a lot of people there. I chatted with Chris And Dee Dee and waited… I heard that Keanu arrived and left already, but I decided to stick it out. He could come back to shoot the actual show.
Plus, he’s a nice guy and Guillermo del Toro is super fan friendly so the odds are pretty decent they will both greet the fans.
I brought my Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey mini poster and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Cereal box, both already signed by Alex Winter. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Cereal is a most triumphant part of your breakfast.
I also had a couple John Wick mini posters and for Guillermo del Toro I had Blade II, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Crimson Peak as well.
So, we waited. We sweated in the heat, and I made fun of Chris. Pretty much all in a day’s work if you ask me.
I mean Billy’s not here, so you can’t make fun of him, I mean… It’s a rough life you know?
Finally it was showtime. There are about 40-50 people here crammed into a pretty small space.
Keanu Reeves came back to tape the show. He waved and ran on inside.
Guillermo del Toro arrived and was super late but he still came over.
Such a nice man, seriously… How can you not love Guillermo del Toro? He said, “I’m going to sign one each, but I’ll come back out after.”
I got him on my Blade II mini poster, I’m sorry, but I love those movies. Don’t judge me.
And then we waited… And waited… It was a looooooong wait. I’m not sure if they started late or what but damn.
Then, when the outdoor concert started they put up and giant black barrier on each side. Of course this was just the time Guillermo del Toro came back out and he tried to come over but security said he couldn’t because of the black sheets.
Those were up for a long time, and then the concert started. Everyone knew that Keanu had a premiere to get to, and as the time ticked by people thought he left another way, or left as the black tarp was up.
I grabbed my stuff and was about to leave. Then I mentioned something to Canadian Dave and decided to stay a few minutes longer. Oh, those pesky Canadians. God Bless them.
Sure enough, a couple minutes later, holy shit, Keanu Reeves comes out and we didn’t even need to call him. He came right over to us and started to sign.
He signed a couple each and flew down the line, he signed both of my Bill and Ted pieces, and made sure everyone got at least one. So, freakin’ nice.
I would have been so mad at myself if I left. Ugh.
It turned out to be an awesome night! My cereal box looks great.
Until next time kids…
