There are those days, when everything works out. When things fall into place and it’s an easy fun day.
Scotty and I are both huge fans of the film Almost Famous, and one of it’s stars, Billy Crudup. I’ve watched Billy Crudup since he was in Sleepers, Inventing The Abbott’s, Stage Beauty, and two of my favorite films of all time Big Fish and like I said Almost Famous.
When I heard that Billy Crudup was doing a talk show appearance I knew I had to go. Scotty was on the scene already along with Paul who was there for Indie-Rock icons Weezer.
When I arrived there were only a few of us waiting for Billy Crudup, by a few, I mean Scotty, Paul and myself.
Then we spied DVD Dave coming as well.
Our little group has grown by one!
While we waited for Billy Crudup we watched Weezer walking back and forth, Paul and a few other Weezer fans kept calling for Rivers to come over, but nadda.
Instead, Rivers threw a frisbee around for 25 minutes before their set. Nice!
I brought a bunch of stuff for Billy Crudup. I have his Interview magazine cover, my Watchmen picture disc, and I have an original set of props from Almost Famous including a couple Stillwater lp covers and the Rolling Stone Stillwater cover as well.
Yep, that’s a lot!
Paul was nice enough to volunteer to help as he didn’t have anything for Billy Crudup to sign.
Then, out comes Billy Crudup! He didn’t even wait for us to call him, he just walked on over to us. A bunch of girls jumped in at the last minute around the barricade, but I had a feeling Billy Crudup was being so cool it wouldn’t matter, still come on now be polite.
I have to tell you, Billy Crudup was super awesome.
When he saw the Rolling Stone cover he was floored, I told him it was the original from the film, and I he was like, “Noooo!” and I then we talked a bit about Almost Famous and how much that film means to me.
I then asked him to sign the cover, “I am a golden god!” and he was like, “yeah, sure!”
Then he signed the LP covers as well. Paul got my Watchmen picture disc and the magazine cover signed as well.
Seriously, such a cool guy.
He even did pics down the line as well.
It was an awesome time, and I’m super thankful.
Until next time kids…
