Throwback Thurs! Braving The Cold! The Crowds! And The Madness For Johnny Depp! Autographs! Mortdecai Los Angeles Premiere! And More!

Mortdecai, the new Johnny Depp spy caper had it’s premiere last night at the Chinese Theater. I knew I had to head out. I mean, I have so much crap for Johnny to sign. He’s been in so many films Edward Scissorhands, and Ed Wood alone!

I brought a bunch of stuff with me including my Cry-Baby oversized VHS promo box and some mini posters for Pirates, Edward Scissorhands, and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?.

When I arrived, I didn’t think I would see anyone from the MTF gang, but there was Awesome Anushika! Holy crap! I was so excited to see her!

We literally passed the day away catching up. We blinked and it was four O’Clock! Holy crap x2!

And then, after eating at Baja Fresh, I ran into Paul who was getting ready for the day. We got to catch up for a second before I saw Scotty. He was hoping to get Gwyneth Paltrow who is also in Mortecai with Ewan McGregor.

Normally, I would be all about both of them, however I didn’t get here at the crack of dawn so we were smack in the middle of the barricade. It’s okay, we’re really here for Johnny Depp.

The premiere is set up, but it’s odd cause no one’s around. This one has a late start time then we are used to.

I have to tell you, while the day flew by, the last couple hours are crawling to a halt. In fact, with the crowd of five deep or so, this could get a bit hairy.

As the time ticked by the press finally got into their pens.

Anushika and I were really tired but here we were sticking it out.

Then the arrivals started.

Jeff Goldbloom waved, Olivia Munn waved, Gwyneth Paltrow bolted to the carpet,

Now, the security made a faux fan pit. They hand picked people from foreign countries who weren’t getting autographs to stand there. We heard them say, “Australia… Check.. France… That’s all we have is Australia and France.”

Sigh… It sucks when that happens. It should be people who were here first, even if it wasn’t me, those are the people who should be able to go into the fan pit.

Whatever.

Then Ewan McGregor arrived. He went onto the carpet.

After he was done, Ewan crossed the street at the corner. He signed quite a bit but I was too far down.

Then Gwyneth Paltrow came over to the fans in the pit. I could hear Scotty’s heart breaking. Doh.

Then we saw Johnny. He went over to the fan pit and then came across the street to us.

It was chaos. Way worse than I remember at Dark Shadows. He was really nice, but the pushing was a lot and the security clustered so close by him, it was hard to even hold anything out for him to sign.

Anushika had her Pop Vinyl from Funko for Edward Scissorhands and a vintage Rolling Stone.

He was in front of us now. Johnny’s security thanked us all for coming and then I just tried to keep my balance.

Anushika is a pro, she got both of her things in there and got them signed!

Then Johnny signed my Cry-Baby VHS promo. I then asked him to sign my Pirates mini poster and then my Edward Scissorhands mini poster. It was like he was in a daze. He was kind though, and tried to engage. I’m sure it’s overwhelming to sign for half a street!

I couldn’t really get around or get in anywhere else, but I was happy with what I got. I wish the pen was better, but again I’m more than content.

Plus, I got to see everyone which was nice! It’s always more fun to do an event when you can hang with friends and see everyone!
