TV Heartbeat! Chicago PD Threesome! The fate of Amell Wednesdays! Pushing Daisies resurrection!
What’s happening now? And not a moment too soon, the Olympics will wrap up on Sunday! Whew! Finally, we can say hello to new programming and new shows next week!
Saturday: Ripper Street starts its final season (BBC America), About a Boy (NBC)
Sunday: Amazing Race (CBS), Olympic closing ceremony (NBC), Growing up Fisher (NBC), Downton Abbey season finale (PBS)
Monday: The Voice (NBC), Dallas (TNT), Late Night with Seth Meyers
Tuesday: Rizzoli & Isles (TNT), Perception (TNT), Glee in new timeslot (Fox), Game of Arms (AMC), Mind Games (ABC), About a Boy & Growing Up Fisher in regular timeslots (NBC)
Wednesday: Mixology (ABC), Nashville spring premiere (ABC), Survivor (CBS), The Americans (FX), Legit (FXX)
What to play some Mind Games? ABC will debut this new show starring Christian Slater and Steve Zahn as brothers who use psychology to manipulate people. Christian’s character is a “reformed” con man while Steve’s character is an expert in human behavior who is also bi-polar himself. Some great potential for being fun if the chemistry and tone is right…
Chicago PD threesome! True to their goal, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD have featured various cast members on each other’s show nearly every week.

For next week, Chicago PD is taking it up a notch and will be featuring characters from THREE currently running shows! Law & Order: SVU’s Detectives Tutuola (Ice T) and Rollins (Kelli Giddish) will work with Voight’s unit to solve this state-hopping crime.
And the last piece of the late night TV shuffle finally falls into place this week! Get ready for a weeknight updates with Late Night with Seth Meyers. If anyone is wondering if Seth will stray too far from his SNL past, note that his band leader is his former SNL playmate Fred Armisen.
Health check Congrats to the cast and crews of Shameless and House of Lies! Showtime renewed both for another season so we’ll have more Gallaghers and cons in the year ahead!
Amell Wednesdays is dead! No, we don’t have the final decision on The Tomorrow People quite yet. The CW renewed Reign and its 4 top shows, but the fates of The Tomorrow People, Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie are still fluid. Despite Robbie Amell’s abs, Hart of Dixie has the edge since it’s been running almost long enough to be sold into syndication which means more moolah. To help sort out their fates, The CW will do a bit of time swapping mid-March to sort out who stays and who goes. The Tomorrow People will move to Mondays so we’ll see how well the show fares there…
For the remaining shows, The CW is making “hard decisions” and will likely need to also account for the last 2 new shows: Star Crossed and The 100. Star Crossed got off to a rocky start with a premiere during the Olympics (talk about star-crossed!) so the show will need a huge DVR boost and a step up next week to fight for a slot in the fall.
Here’s the check up chart with the full lowdown on where your favorite shows stand. Keep in mind things could change in the next two weeks so make sure to support your favorites!
Crystal Ball With the imminent arrival of the Veronica Mars movie, talk continues to swirl around some other TV shows who might get reincarnated in a different form. Scrubs’ creator Bill Lawrence is shopping around a musical version of the show for the stage. Fans of the show may remember that there was a musical episode that featured songs by someone who went on to do that small Disney film Frozen. I guess they won’t let it go…
Another show that featured musical numbers, Pushing Daisies, is looking to do a film or possibly a musical as well. Barry Sonnenfeld and Kristin Chenowith are involved as is showrunner Bryan Fuller. Bryan Fuller may need a little happy, quirky break from his day job running Hannibal. Let’s hope they move forward since I’d love to visit this sweet and beautiful world again!
Synergy! Like Pushing Daisies, Revenge is getting its own graphic novel! Revenge’s tale will focus on Emily’s first “mission” after her training with Takeda. (Gorgeous cover!) I guess Emily Van Camp was destined to be in comics since we’ll also be seeing her soon in the Captain America: Winter Soldier movie coming out in a few months.
The New York Toy Fair revealed the new Simpson’s Lego set and to celebrate/promote this, The Simpsons will feature a Lego episode in May. Excellent! Everything is Awesome!
Stay tuned!

I absolutely HATE the crossovers with Chicago Fire and PD. I tried watching PD and didn’t like it and they are forcing me to tune back in – it’s super annoying. They also make ludicrous plot choices that make no sense just so they can involve PD. Not cool NBC.
Lol! Looks like the strategy is working though! The back and forth may ease off once Chicago PD settles in more into a second season.
The season for both shows will be ending with a bang and a huge cross over which should be really interesting. They’re really taking advantage of those bonus episodes!
