With Warcraft coming out tomorrow, I thought that this was a great time to look back at one of the coolest things at Comic Con! History did an awesome Vikings Waterway experience where you could put yourself into the Vikings trailer. They held a meet and greet with the cast which was hyper cool. Did I ever mention how much I like Vikings? No? Say wha?
Anyway, check it out below!
Out of everything happening at San Diego Comic Con one of the coolest things had to be the Vikings waterway! History Channel created a Viking fort complete with a pool and boats that you can race. Pretty damn epic. They did such a great job. This year at the con the offsite events were way cooler than the ones on the convention floor.
Friday morning the entire cast of Vikings made an appearance at the waterway for a cast signing of the limited edition comic book they were passing out.
Tons of people showed up, including Billy Beer and myself. I couldn’t miss this could I?
The line was divided into two sets of cast members. The first line included Travis Fimmel, Clive Standen and Jessalyn Gilsig. The second line had Katheryn Winnick , Gustaf Skarsgard and George Blagden. Billy and I decided to head to the first line and then hopefully, jump into the second to get the full cast.
I would say there were at least 250 people who showed up for the signing. That’s pretty incredible for all the stuff happening at the same time here in San Diego!
Once the cast arrived they posed for group photos in front of the waterway. I wish I had more time cause I would have tried to participate in the boat races. lol… I’m sure the mental picture of me in a boat will keep you all laughing for a few minutes.
After the cast was finished with group photos Katheryn Winnick posed with the rest of the shield maidens. I have to tell you the Lagertha shield maidens were awesome! They looked so good! I was really impressed!
And then it was time for the signing. Now, a lot of times at events like these, the cast sits behind a table and signs… It’s kind of “by the numbers” but the Vikings cast came out from behind the table and just hung out with all the fans waiting.
There are not that many casts who are so accessible to their fans.
Clive Standen was first. I said hi, and he said, “Wait… I know you! You’re name is John right?”
I said, “Mike, but I met you at the FYC screening in Hollywood.” I can’t believe that he remembered me! LOL… That’s one of the times that it pays to be a giant. LOL…
Clive is one of the nicest guys ever. Seriously.
Jessalyn was very nice as well. She signed and would come from around the table to pose with people. Adorable.
Then Travis Fimmel was at the end. He again wouldn’t sit behind the table but instead he got up, talked to people, etc… Seriously, one of the most fan friendly casts ever!
Then Billy and I got in the other line. Time was running short and we wanted to make sure that we got everyone.
Gustaf Skarsgard had to leave to use the rest room and said, “anyone want me to sign anything, I gotta pee.” lol… I love the honesty.
George Blagden was next and we chatted about the show for a second. He wouldn’t sit behind the table either. Katheryn Winnick was at the end. By the time we got up there time was running short so we only had time for a quick goodbye. She said, “Wait, I remember you from Wondercon!” LOL… Again, the benefits of being a giant.
It’s always great to see a cast so nice and open with their fans. That’s what San Diego Comic Con is all about!
Keep an eye out for my interview with the cast of Vikings coming soon!
Until next time kids…
