Jekyll or Hyde! Finally Getting To Meet Lord Of The Rings Star Cate Blanchett! Walk Of Fame Madness! Autographs! And More!
For today’s Jekyll or Hyde I’m going back to a former Fanboy Fail! The lovely Ms. Cate Blanchett is one of my favorite actresses, but let’s just say he’s a tough one to get.
I thought I would take a look back and when I was successful in finally getting to meet her! Thank God for walk of fame star ceremonies right? LOL…
Check out the subject of todays, Jekyll or Hyde below!

Today is set to be quite an interesting afternoon. I have tried over three times to get Cate Blanchett to sign something. Once I had a poster, the second time I had a DVD, and the last time a full one sheet. Did she stop? Nope, just kept on going. Today, in front of the Egyptian Theatre in the heart of Hollywood she is getting her star on the Walk of Fame. So, I’m trying again. I have my Vanity Fair magazine from 1999 and my Indiana Jones one sheet poster from The Crystal Skull. Directors Steven Spielberg and David Fincher are also going to be there so I’m going to try and get them as well. I have wanted David Fincher for a long time so we’ll see what happens. Also speaking today is Kathleen Kennedy who has executive produced almost all of Steven Spielberg’s films.
9:22 a.m. – I just parked and am walking over towards the barricades in front of the Egyptian. It is such a beautiful day. This is December and it is actually warm out! Crazy.
9:33 a.m. – There are about 15-20 people here already, but I got a decent spot in front of the barricades. Scotty is supposed to be joining me, but he’s running late.
9:44 a.m. – Scotty just got here. He is studying for some test he has to pass. He’s about to finish up with school and when that happens we are all going to have a party. I decree it.
10:22 a.m. – There is a very nice Canadian guy standing next to me. He told me he would try and get something signed for me if I want. I was like “sweet.” I wasn’t sure if I would get the magazine and poster signed, but since he volunteered that would be cool.
10:39 a.m. – Events like this are kind of fun because they are in Hollywood and are a part of history. It’s different then just going to a premiere.
10:46 a.m. – A man just walked by with…. Wait for it… a dollhouse on his head. What the hell? He has a real dollhouse on his head and is trying to get people to talk to him. Everyone keeps ignoring him though. Wouldn’t you expect people to ignore you if you had a dollhouse on your head? Maybe it’s just me…
10:49 a.m. – One of the ladies working the event has a very strange outfit on. She has a black skirt, and a black sweater. This is fine. But she tied this small belt on top of her sweater and it just looks odd. As she walks the belt moves up and down her waist.
10:54 a.m. – Scott and I are now debating if we should tell belt lady that her belt needs to go. I say, no cause then belt lady will feel bad. Oh, the belt is up again, and now… the belt is back down. This could be a new drinking game.
11:03 a.m. – David Fincher just arrived. He is not signing anything. Damn it. He’s just chatting away. Wait, he is signing a few things, and now he stopped. Shit, I brought my Fight Club DVD for him to sign, but I’m starting to lose hope. Oh, a guy just walked up to him, and he refused to sign his poster.
11:05 a.m. – The belt is up again…and oh wait, it dropped back down.
11:14 a.m. – Steven Spielberg just arrived; people are going crazy. He went over to the side to sign some things, but stopped after like 8 autographs. I missed him. Sigh… No time for love Dr. Jones. Maybe he will sign after.
11:26 a.m. – They are starting the ceremony and Cate just arrived. She looks great.
It’s a mob scene on the sidewalk. She gets through the barricade, and talks with David Fincher and Steven for a bit.
11:33 a.m. – They do a presentation for Cate, and Kathleen Kennedy is up speaking.
11:36 a.m. – Now Steven is doing his presentation. It’s very nice.
11:42 a.m. – David Fincher is giving his speech. He decided to read from his journal that he kept during the making of Benjamin Button. It’s quite funny hearing him talk about meeting with Cate before they worked together.
11:58 a.m. – The presentation is over. Cate is doing some press interviews, but motioned that she would come over to sign after. Spielberg just darted away in his car. Sigh…
12:13 a.m. – Kathleen Kennedy is signing a few items for fans. I got her on my Indiana Jones poster so that’s kind of cool.
12:18 a.m. – Cate is now starting to sign on the other end of the barricade. They are limiting it to one per person, and really doing things quick.
12:22 a.m. – She is in our section. Scotty has his Elizabeth poster out, and she signed it, and she also signed my Vanity Fair. The friendly Canadian guy grabbed my poster and got her to sign it as well, but she signed it in black on the black and I think it’s upside down. Oh well. LOL… It’s so scribbled no one would know.
12:24 a.m. – She was very cordial, and gracious. Not the friendliest of people. Did I mention I tried to get her three other times!
But I’m glad she did sign for the fans and I got two which is cool. On to David Fincher, who just promptly walked off and is ignoring everyone calling out for him. Oh well, I suppose I will try again for him another time. Double sigh… Still a fun day and it’s always a pleasure to see Scotty. Extra special thanks to that friendly Canadian who got my poster signed!
The verdict on this day: definitely Dr. Jekyll!
Cate Blanchett is given the happy Theo Award!!!!

You’d think David Fincher thinks himself some A-list director. Well he is, but I mean come on… he could sign once in a while.
