12 Monkeys Q and A! Meeting Aaron Stanford! Kirk Acevedo! Emily Hampshire! Amanda Schull! And More!
One of my favorite shows the past couple years is 12 Monkeys. Based off the film (which is also one of my favorites) the series has taken off in a totally unique and interesting direction.
To celebrate the season 2 finale the cast got together and shows the final two episodes along with a q and a panel.
First off there was a fun reception with an open bar and awesome decorations. It was a blast hanging with Mike, Billy and Derek! It was a really great time!
Participating in the panel were:
Aaron Stanford, “Cole”
Amanda Schull, “Dr. Cassandra Railly”
Emily Hampshire, “Jennifer Goines”
Kirk Acevedo, “Ramse”
Todd Stashwick, “Deacon”
Terry Matalas, Creator/Executive Producer/Showrunner
The cast talked about changes this season and what their characters went through.
“It’s interesting she (Cassie) was living in a world she only heard about from Cole. At her core she’s the same person!” Said Amanda Schull, “It was very dark because of the circumstances and also because she knows what she wishes she could do if she could live the life she could. But she’s been tasked to do this. It was a challenge.”
“I think we were all a step behind the 12 Monkeys, it was very frustrating. I think he sees things differently from Cassie. He was were she is in the beginning of season one.” Aaron Stanford said, “You learn things are not that simple. That’s why he can’t buy into where Cassie is coming from this season. There’s something so much more complicated.”
Emily Hampshire talked about all the different Jennifer’s this season and how that was a challenge.
“To me it was all Jennifer in different stages of life. I think old Jennifer was given to me in the hair and makeup. After the four hour thing… but actually seeing myself like that was very affecting.” exclaimed Emily Hampshire, “I instantly felt super confident and I didn’t give a shit what I looked like. Plus, once I took off the makeup I was like… I look good! I think I found old Jennifer in doing that.”
When talking about Ramse, the question was posed if he could ever be redeemed.
“I don’t think of it as betrayal, if you have children you understand what you would do for your child. It’s not betrayal. We’ve lived our lives and they haven’t had their chance to do that yet.” Said Kirk Acevedo.
The panel was really fun. But we were told about 100 times from Amanda Schull not to reveal any spoilers for the finale. So, I’m going to end the panel recap here in fear that Cassie will come back in time to kick my ass.
After the panel the cast was super nice. Literally everyone stayed and hung out and you could tell how much they all appreciated the fans and everyone who has supported the series.
I talked to Kirk Acevedo about OZ (another favorite of mine) for a second, and had Aaron Stanford to sign my X2 poster along with the cast who signed my 12 Monkeys poster.
It was really a fun night, I’m so glad that we headed out. If you haven’t checked out the series yet, I highly recommend you do so. It’s really upped the bar for Syfy!
Also, a big shout out to a couple MTF Readers I met at the panel! Lauren and Tom who were super sweet! You guys rawk!
Until next time kids…
