I think there’s a rule for the first few days of 2015. There’s a redo button. How else to get the bad taste of the Palm Springs Film Fest from my life.
This year, the list wasn’t all that spectacular but still there were some awesome names, I love Reese Witherspoon, she’s one of my favorites. Also on the list was Julianne Moore, Steve Carell, Michael Keaton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, JK Simmons, Eddie Redmayne, and Brad Pitt.
Scotty and I joined Billy Beer in the morning and the crowd was already larger than I expected.
Still, I had decent hopes.
I was able to meet and chat with MTF reader Mike. How can you argue with such an awesome name? I mean right?
Then I saw OTG John and there was a nice mix of Palm Springs locals and LA collectors.
Billy Beer and I got went to get some lunch and see the Palm Springs sights for a bit.
Billy traded in his trademark hops for some fruity margaritas.
I think the red hue suited him.
Then we headed back to get ready for the evening.
We saw an older couple who were adorable. They were sitting off to the side just to check everything out.
So cute! Fanboying at any age!
I also saw another MTF Reader Michael and he was nice enough to take a couple things for me in case they could get them done. How nice is that!
And then we got ready for the moment. The event started.
Scotty and I made a couple signs, and that attacked the attention of the local reporters who interviewed us for the lifestream. Sigh…
Still at that point things were still looking okay.
Then the show started.
It wasn’t horrible.
Patrick Stewart came over to sign and was really nice. I didn’t know he was going to be there. Doh! So, of course I had nothing for him.
Then the massive lines of cars started coming. But that didn’t have the sway of my viking helmet I brought for Julianne Moore. Ed couldn’t resist it’s powerful sway.
Matthew Lillard was also there. He was really nice and came on over to sign and talk to the fans.
Carol Channing showed up, she was adorable.
And then arrivals started. A few people arrived, JK Simmons arrived and waved.
Then came Imitation Game’s Allen Leech who was really nice. He came over to sign and was very nice.
Then came Selma’s David Oyelowo. He was really nice. And went down almost the entire line. I had him sign my Selma mini poster.
He was very cool.
Julianne Moore arrived and waved and headed onto the carpet.
Michael Keaton came over and signed about 8-10 before taking off.
Steve Carell came over and signed a few.
Eddie Redmayne came over and was super nice. He signed for a lot of people and signed my The Theory of Everything mini poster.
Robert Duvall arrived and signed a couple in one spot.
Robert Downey Jr. Arrived and didn’t sign at all.
The girls from Gone Girl arrived and didn’t even wave.
Felicity Jones went right to the carpet.
Reese Witherspoon came over and signed for a lot of people but for some reason she stopped two people down from Scotty and I. Sigh..
Then Benedict Cumberbatch arrives.
He comes over and is signing a lot. But when he gets to Scotty… Benedict skips our section.
Like for no reason.
And Brad Pitt. He apparently helicoptered in and we didn’t see him.
So, about that reset button… I’m saying that 2015 starts a little bit later… Like the first couple weeks of Jan are like a holdover and we can start fresh later… Yeah… That’s it!
Until next time kids…
