Pretty In Pinky! Emmy Awards 2012 Special! With Christina Hendricks! January Jones! Zooey Deschanel! Kevin Costner! Michael C. Hall! And More!
There’s no better way to end Emmy season than with Ms. Pinky Lovejoy’s annual recap of her trip to the Emmys! Pinky always has such luck at the event and from what I can tell has a ball! She got to meet some amazing people but did get a few rejections! Doh!
I’m looking at you Jessica Lange!
Pinky had a few friends there as well including the hottie Ms. Lindsay from Iamnotastalker! I’m a tad jealous!
Check out her full recap after the jump!

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy still on a high from my Emmy week adventures. As if finally meeting my “unicorn” Chord Overstreet wasn’t enough (let alone Lindsay Price!), I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Emmy awards for the third year in a row. How great is that?!? But it wasn’t just the Emmys that left me in such a good mood, apparently it was unicorn SEASON in the Land of Pink because I finally was able to get pictures with both January Jones (the last remaining cast member of Mad Men I had yet to meet)
and Zooey Deschanel (who’d shot me down for years).
Wahoo! I also didn’t feel as skittish or scared about the Emmy awards as I was in the past because I knew what I was getting into. The main lesson learned from the previous years was to stop running late and hitting traffic right before the ceremony, so this year I got a hotel and stayed nearby. It was perfect!
Also perfect? Having friends to go with me.
The first year I went totally alone and had no idea what I was doing; I was like a deer in the headlights fumbling around. Last year was infinitely better because I had my girl, Lindsay, from www.iamnotastalker.com with me and seeing her reaction to being there was so much fun to watch.
This year my good friends Adam and Duggan came with us, as well, and it was a nice, fun friendly adventure. Well, mostly. That’s not to say there weren’t some stressful moments (because being in a group of people with everyone going in various directions can be challenging), but overall it was great.
I loved having a little “pack” with me and I loved that we got ready and headed over early together. We had time to get pictures on the red carpet (which I missed out on last year since I was so late) and could even have some champagne before the ceremony started.
Fave moments of the night? Getting my third-year-in-a-row picture with Christina Hendricks, who is so amazingly kind she now remembers me when we see each other and tells me it’s nice to see me again (love her!).
Getting a “double” photo with Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann – two of the coolest cats in Hollywood.
Seeing Ricky Gervais again who is remarkably nice despite my totally thinking he’d be rude (I also met him on Friday and he was happy to pose for a photo right after going for a run – now that’s awesome).
Getting to see Ty Pennington which (to the surprise of no one) was my biggest “freak out” of the night. Why he made me giddier than anyone else there I’ll never know, but I was STOKED to see him in person!
Finally meeting Ashley Judd (who looked beautiful despite the tragic hair)
and the previously mentioned January Jones and Zooey Deschanel (who both look mean in the pictures, but oh well). Getting a great new picture with Amy Poehler, whom I adore.
Ending my night with a picture with Kevin Costner – nothing like saving the best for last!
Oh, and my beloved Downton Abbey cast (but I’ll talk about them in a different post….they’re too incredible to be lumped into one big post – they deserve their own. Yes, the show means THAT much to me).
Biggest let downs of the night? Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, and Jessica Lange refusing to do pictures. Granted, they don’t have to, I realize they’re not obligated in any way, but I’d always heard really great things at least about Julianne, so to have her use the, “It wouldn’t be fair” excuse kind of bummed me out. Having “jumpers” in the lobby – a couple who followed us around last year and then jumped in front of us for pictures.
Oh, I had one major outfit FAIL when my shawl got stuck to Julia Ormond’s dress, but at least her reaction was priceless. She said, “Apparently I’m rather attached to you” and then asked John Slattery to unhook us. I was disappointed to not see Jon Cryer, Jon Hamm, or Emily Van Camp (why do I always miss her???). But the biggest bummer was that my flash didn’t go off when I met Lena Dunham, which resulted in a horribly colored picture. Ugh.
Overall it was a lot of fun and I’m happy to have the opportunity to go and see all the people I’ve long admired in person and all dressed up. I’m happy my friends came with me and that I didn’t have any serious mishaps, pratfalls, camera fails (well, not as many as last year), or wardrobe malfunctions. I hope you all had a very happy Emmy week and enjoyed the show. For additional pink fodder, please visit www.pinkylovejoy.com or follow me on Twitter @pinkylovejoy. As always, have a pink day!

Whose emmy are you holding in that pic??
Dallas, that was my first question too! Congrats on meeting so many cool people
Words cannot express how much I’m jealous of the pic with Michael. It’s perfect!
Thanks, Jenny! Dallas/Jack – I believe the Emmy belonged to someone from The Amazing Race (what – you didn’t think it was mine?!? HA!). He was standing in the lobby and let us take pics with it. I’ve actually been able to find someone every year so far to let me pose with their Emmy. Those things are heavy! 😉
