This Is 40 World Movie Premiere Report! AKA The Premiere That Was A Giant Bust! Nadda… Nothing… No One… Goose Egg… That Bad? Yep! Doh!
I debated about this one, debated… Debated and then debated some more. Today is the This Is 40 world premiere and even though there are not any huge names in the cast I really want to see it. I like doing premiere’s where I’m actually excited about the film and not just a main star. Plus, even though none of the names are super rare they are all really nice, and well… It’s Megan Fox and Lena Dunham.
Now, I like Megan Fox and for some reason I have a stack of magazines for her. Lena Dunham is the star and creator of Girls and I’ve never seen her in Los Angeles. So, I figured this could be a good time. Plus, this could be the final premiere of 2012 for me… So… I figure with a nice cast, no rain, it could be really good!
5:11 p.m. – I just arrived. There;s only 45 minutes until the carpet. CB was here at the crack of dawn. He and Billy Beer really want Megan Fox. LOL… I mean he really wants Megan Fox.
5:16 p.m. – The carpet is tented because of the impending rain. I guess we shall see if it does indeed rain but I doubt it will.
5:19 p.m. – There’s not many people here… I’m surprised but not shocked. There’s no one in the cast that would bring people out in droves, but I thought that Megan Fox would have brought some people out. But maybe not…
5:27 p.m. – Billy Beer and CB made signs for Megan Fox.. god love them… I mean I like Megan Fox but she’s not sign worthy in my opinion.
5:33 p.m. – Bill is whipping out his photo of Megan Fox.. Lord… That’s all I can say, is Lord…
5:39 p.m. – It’s getting to be that time. everyone is in place..
5:48 p.m. – A dude just drove by in a truck with Metallica spray painted on the side. I love society, I really really do.
5:59 p.m. – Okay, random sighting of the day… Richard Grieco is just standing on the corner talking to people at the barricade and posing for photos.
It’s really strange. I mean God love him for being so nice…. but… Imagine just looking to the side and seeing Booker from 21 Jumpstreet in a black trench coat chilling. lol… #onlyinhollywood
6:14 p.m. – Some small people have arrived nothing too exciting as of yet… It’s actually a nice night considering there was a high chance of rain.
6:31 p.m. – Oh a major arrival. It’s Paul Rudd. We all yell for him and he turns around gives a half wave. He then just heads right to the carpet. Damn… Maybe this will be a bad premiere.
6:39 p.m. – Oh damn, there’s Megan Fox.
She turns and waves and then pops on the carpet. Even with all the girls screaming for her. Damn… times two…
6:45 p.m. – Well… Wow… This is exciting…
6:49 p.m. – There’s Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann… They turn, wave and then walk inside. What the hell man. This is insane! Grumble.
6:51 p.m. – Hopefully, this won’t be a total bust but…
6:54 p.m. – There’s Lena Dunham… She waves and that as we say is that. Damn…
Now, I know what you all are going to say, “It’s the set up,” “It’s the rain,” “People don’t always cross here…” But I’ve gotten Sandra Bullock, Sean William Scott, Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Kate Beckinsale, etc… at the exact same set up… So… It wasn’t that.
Who knows why to be honest but it didn’t seem like anyone wanted to cross today… And usually Paul and Leslie especially are nice. Ah well…

You know as I tell my son, you don’t get unless you try and autographs is all about Preparation, patience and luck…..you had everything, but the big “L” which is the main one. Bummer about CB wasting a whole day….not sure Megan is worth a day off…maybe Jessica Alba or Beyonce 🙂
WOW! Mike sorry for the “wasted” premiere! It’s a shame but most premieres lately have been pretty bad! At least you didn’t spend all day waiting. I do tend to disagree ( what else is new. LOL! ) I do think the setup etc had to effect it in a way. And though it didn’t rain it was cold. Mike it is the flu season and I think the last thing the studio wants is their client catching a cold. LOL! I don’t know. Like Russell said it’s all about luck. Thank god you have those screenings as an alternative.
Although I hate to admit it, but John might have a good point.It is flu season and publicsts are becoming even more strict “with allowing big name stars” come in contact with fans (the last couple of times I have seen this happen in closed awards events). Still, it’s surprising NO ONE signed for such a large film. It was probably the weather most likely that made people reluctant
Is Leslie Mann really that nice? From my experience, she wasn’t too friendly at all. Recently, I went for Leslie Mann at a talk show and I asked for a photo op as she was walking in the door and she looked at me and said, “No, i’m sick. You don’t want to touch me” haha I just got major dissed. Surprisingly, I was the only one there in the alley that day!
I’ve met Leslie a few times and she’s always been cool. One time she even called Judd Apatow over to have him sign my 40 year old virgin poster as well… But you never know… Doh!
