What’s up autograph fanatics! Ace here with TTM Tuesday! Today, I am highlighting my top 25 best of 2012…. I originally took 40 big names out of my 500 successes for the year… Then I had five people create their top 25 among my 40…. After precise “calculation”, below are my top 25 TTM autographs of 2012!
Before you get on to them, I will say, I did not include any stars that I have gotten through my playbill ventures… It isn’t really fair to include them with the others! Playbill TTM is a lot easier! In no particular order, because I feel I have to mention them because of the method of TTM itself…
Aaron Carter – The Fantasticks
Paul Rudd and Ed Asner – Grace
Jim Parsons, Carol Kane, and Rich Sommer – Harvey
Ricky Martin – Evita
John Lithgow- The Columnist
Nick Jonas – How to Succeed in Biz.
Raven Symone – Sister Act
Alan Rickman, Jerry O’ Connell – Seminar
Jeff Goldblum – Seminar
David Hyde Pierce and Sigourney Weaver – V & M & S & S
NOW! After all that, on to the best of 2012!
#25 Alan Ruck
Maybe you know him? Perhaps best known for his roles as Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Stuart Bondek on Spin City? Definitely a remarkable film! Who remembers Ruck’s pool scene? I do! How about the scene with the principal? JUST AMAZING…
#24 Ghost Adventures
It is the best American paranormal television series on TV! The program follows and stars ghost hunters Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and Aaron Goodwin as they investigate locations that are reported to be haunted. The show is hosted and narrated by Bagans. If you haven’t seen it, you must! I love this series! Very fortunate to get them before they stopped signing through the mail!
#23 Heather Langenkamp
She is best known for her role as Nancy Thompson from the A Nightmare on Elm Street films. BUT, you might have forgot, like I did last time, she also played Marie Lubbock on the sitcom Just the Ten of Us. Couldn’t forget that again!
(Editor’s note: That’s right! 😉 M-)
#22 Nick Jonas
American singer-songwriter, musician, actor and multi-instrumentalist, best known as one of the Jonas Brothers, a pop-rock band he formed with his brothers Joe and Kevin. I was very fortunate to get Nick! He was doing a musical on Broadway and I had to try! I received a playbill and a couple photos signed!
#21 Bill O’Reilly
I will start off by saying: I do not believe his views at all! I am a big-time, far left wing liberal! But, it is a nice addition to the collection! He is the host of the political program The O’Reilly Factor on the Fox News Channel, which is the most watched cable news television program on American television.
#20 Kathleen Turner
Films such as Body Heat, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The War of the Roses, Serial Mom and Peggy Sue Got Married!!!! I love Kathleen Turner! I think her older stuff is just amazing! I jumped on the chance to send to her… I didn’t have enough time to send mini-posters so, I sent some quickly printed 4 x 6s!
#19 Kevin Spacey
Have you seen Seven??? OMG!!! Pay It Forward! THE USUAL SUSPECTS! American Beauty! He is such an amazing actor! He is definitely an accomplished actor. While it is nice to get him TTM, I need him on my MOON mini poster!
#18 John Lithgow
I have one of the biggest fan obsessions with John Lithgow! If you haven’t seen Twilight Zone: The Movie or Harry and the Hendersons, it’s a must! It speaks for itself! It is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine! Lol
#17 Anne Rice
ONE TITLE: Interview with the Vampire. When I got these bookplates back, I thought they had to be fake… But, under further inspection, all the autographs are different… Whether it is the “a” or “r” or “I”, no two are the same! Plus the match every single IP auto I have seen! Just really happy about this one!!! I have a lot of her books!
#16 Rod Stewart
I hope I don’t have to explain who he is! LOL… Now, in terms of authenticity, you can never be too sure… I did send it to a home address, so, who knows? He is a remarkable singer! One of these days, I will send it out to get authenticated although I am pretty sure it is… Can never be too sure!!
#15 FUN
I AM SOOOOO HAPPY ABOUT THIS ONE! I wrote a letter to them this year when the album came out! They were not popular at ALL!!! Then the notable song, “We are Young” caught on FIRE!!! And the rest is history!!!
#14 Andy Serkis
Popularly known for playing through performance capture to animate and voice computer-generated characters: Gollum in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003) and the Hobbit prequels (2012–2014), King Kong in the eponymous 2005 film, and Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011). He is a marvelous actor! I actually sent this to the studio/stage in New Zealand that they were filming the Hobbit films on! Now, I just need to get him In-Person!
#13 Larry King
Hosted the TV program Larry King Live on CNN for 25 YEARS!!! I was one of the few to get him at the private address!
#12 Gene Wilder
His work with Mel Brooks has been pure genius! Wilder is known for his portrayal of Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and for his four films with Richard Pryor: Silver Streak (1976), Stir Crazy (1980), See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989), and Another You (1991). I ABSOULTELY LOVE Gene Wilder… He and Richard Pryor are one of the best comedy duos in cinema within the last 50 years. His acting is phenomenal! If you haven’t see Willy Wonka, he is just “magical.” Now, I love Johnny Depp, but I feel Wilder did a better job.
#11 James Garner
I love Garner’s work! Maybe you guys caught 8 Simple Rules before it ended unfortunately. The Rockford Files was an amazing series! (Catch it on Netflix) But, possibly one of his greatest works, or a work that merely complements his wonderful career, would be the Notebook… Now, as a fan of cinema, I even like the Notebook! How could you not!!! Garner has recently stopped signing within the last couple years, so this was HUGE!
#10 Jon Bernthal
THREE WORDS: THE WALKING DEAD!!!!! Doesn’t it speak for itself? The series is remarkable… Just a beautiful piece of cinema and television that will stand time!
#9 Henry A. Kissinger
Kissinger is a former political scientist, diplomat, and businessman. A recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, he served as National Security Advisor and later concurrently as Secretary of State in the administrations of Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. DEFINITELY, hands down, one of the most influential political figures of the last century… I sent to a private address as a shot in the dark… I was shocked to get anything back!
#8 Ray Manzarek
American musician, singer, producer, film director, writer, and co-founder and keyboardist of The Doors from 1965 to 1973, Nite City from 1977–1978 and Manzarek-Krieger since 2001. As a huge fan of music history, it is a vital autograph to get in your collection! This took over a year to get back! I thought it was a goner!
#7 Dick Cheney
Cheney is the 46th Vice President of the United States, under George W. Bush. I got this back two weeks before his heart incident this year through his publisher… If you were among the first few to send, you would get a personal bookplate from Dick Cheney! There was so video floating around of him signing like three of these… I was among the very limited! It is all in the letter people! But, I have to pose the question… Why do the Republicans sign the best? Darn Egos… But, I am not complaining!
#6 George H. W. Bush
Once again, It is all in the letter people! This isn’t an autopen… It isn’t a Pre-Print… It isn’t a stamp… and it isn’t a secretary sig. This is the real deal guys! I was once again among the very few… He doesn’t sign a whole lot of these… It is really based on luck… I make sure, the second he co-authors a book, to write to him…
#5 Phil Jackson
Remember him? LEGEND! Jackson is widely considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of the NBA. He was the head coach of the Chicago Bulls from 1989 until 1998, during which Chicago won six NBA titles. His next team, the Los Angeles Lakers, won five NBA titles from 2000 until 2010. In total, Jackson has won 11 NBA titles as a coach, surpassing the previous record of nine set by Red Auerbach. A super RARE graph to get TTM… I have only seen one success from him at his personal address…and I was the first to get him! Many have tried since then!
#4 Joe Pesci
Pesci has starred in a number of high profile films including Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, Once Upon a Time in America, My Cousin Vinny, JFK, Home Alone, and the Lethal Weapon series… Just a really cool graph! Jumped on the chance the second I saw an address! Still want him IP on my mini-posters….
#3 Kirk Douglas
Douglas is one of the last surviving actors from Hollywood’s “golden age”. LEGEND! At the time, he was no longer signing photos TTM! You had to send a book! That’s what I did! He had signed TTM for some time! He deserves the break! Two books from Kirk Douglas are amazing in my book! Get it? LOL
#2 NPH…. NEIL PATRICK HARRIS!
DOOGIE!!!! BARNEY!!!! It is the real deal guys… This man is VERY FAMOUS for never signing TTM…. He sends something called STUDIO FANMAIL PRE-PRINTS! It is basically a nice photo with a printed signature…. REGARDLESS, I DID IT! I kicked A** and took names…. Only one to do it! There is some major jealousy out there because of it…. Then again, I wasn’t the one to crack Harrison Ford… But, I am happy!
#1 Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana
I wrote a TTM out to Krist Novoselic guys… I thought it was a GONER… Never thought I would get Krist back… A month later… I get back this sticker… Signed by two people… I knew automatically who it was… Apparently, during the time I sent, Krist was going to embark on an album with Dave Grohl… Well, apparently the rest is history… I got my photos all dual signed by both Dave and Krist… Really blessed… And… yes… I know I will never get Kurt… But, I am ecstatic to have this piece in my collection….
DONE! My Top for 2012! Hope you enjoyed!
Now, remember, there is always a graphing opportunity out there… You just have to find it. I wish you all the best for 2013!
Until Next time,
Ace, the Autograph Addict
Ace, NPH does sign via venue whenever he’s doing Broadway shows (although it’s sporadically). I’ve seen several successes from other people who got him to sign their ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ DVD, among other things.
Great successes! As a rule, I generally avoid TTMs because losing a DVD cover is harder to replace than a photo. Plus, I am always leery of getting autopen or secretarial signatures. That said, there are some people I never expect to get the chance to meet in person. If it were not for taking a chance on TTM I would never have gotten James Garner on my Notebook and Maverick DVDs. Sometimes you just have to take a chance. Thanks Ace! Wishing you bigger and better success in 2013!
Great list. I do need Ruck. Got “Sloan” and “Ferris” but need him. I think top 5 would be:
What address did u use?
My best TTMs I think we’re Emma Stone, Zoe, Jeremy Piven, Shaquille, Josh Hamilton, Jim Thome, Dawn Wells, Christopher Plummer, Carol Burnett, and Peyton Manning. I think all real.
@ DVD Dave: It all depends on the star’s signing habits TTM. I got Zack Snyder to sign my ‘Watchmen’ DVD cover while he was shooting ‘Man of Steel’ last year, and it virtually matches his IPs. Same with Jeremy Renner, although that may change in the future.
I usually try to avoid writing to celebs who either don’t sign TTM, or who send secretarials (Keira Knightley, Jennifer Lawrence) or autopens.
Could someone give me the address for The Hobbit? I want to send to them next year. Thank you so much! Also, congratulations Ace!
😉 Ashley
Hey Ashley! The Hobbit address, stopped dec 2012, doesn’t work anymore! I am sorry this was sooo late!
Can I have the address you used to get Spacey’s?
