2012 Independent Spirit Awards Report! Autographs! Photos! Olivia Wilde! Michelle Williams! Alexander Skarsgard! Willem Dafoe! Kirsten Dunst! Zoe Saldana! Chris Pine! Willem Dafoe! Jessica Chastain!

Oh, the mornings… The mornings are not my favorite thing. Combine mornings with sand and really, it’s like torment. Yet, still… Here, I am up and running at the crack of dawn… Why you may ask? It’s the Independent Spirit Awards 2012! And if you read my recap of last year, it was not the cake walk I was lead to believe.

This year, the nominees and presenters did not have the potential as last year, there was still enough promise to get my ass up in the morning. lol…

7:59 a.m. – I arrived with Erica and CB… Apparently, CB is perky in the morning… Wonderful.

8:12 a.m. – We got a decent spot, but Mike, The other Fanboy had extra room so the three of us jumped in with him. Scotty got our old spot so he’s still in good shape.

8:28 a.m. – Fortunately, we are with a pretty cool bunch of people. DVD Dave is with us as well. It always helps when you have a long day and the people you’re with are fun to be around.

8:43 a.m. – I hate sand, really hate sand, and there is a lot of it here on the beach. It’s a nice change to be here and not on the cold streets of Hollywood. Except for the sand.

9:02 a.m. – I think my personal hell would be forever stuck on the beach, covered in sand, and having Jewel playing in the background. Just saying…

9:03 a.m. – I’m not good with mornings…

9:14 a.m. – Time is going by pretty fast. I might need to get some food fast though before all of the madness starts…

9:23 a.m. – The press is starting to file in. We have over an hour. Pinky just texted me and asked if she should come or not…

9:39 a.m. – There are a whole gaggle of birds circling the tent the Independent Spirit Awards are held at. Cover your memorabilia! Birds pooing!

9:45 a.m. – I have so much stuff with me, I feel like a pack mule! lol… There is so much crap with me, it’s crazy.

9:48 a.m. – That’s the thing with events like this, you just never know who you will actually see, and who will actually sign for the fans. So, you bring everything and pray to Jesus you can find it in time.

10:03 a.m. – Erica and I are going to get food before it starts getting too nuts. There are tons of volleyball players. I’m like wow, that’s a lot of work this early in the morning.

10:04 a.m. – This one dude, has tattoo’s all over his body. I respect that but I have to say… Owwwww…

10:24 a.m. – We have returned! There are a group of police officers here. They are all lined up like a cadet review.

10:27 a.m. – There are the cutest dogs here! Awwww… I miss Theo…

10:35 a.m. – Oh, the valet is standing at attention… It’s getting closer and closer..

10:43 a.m. – Okay, we are all lined up, and at the ready. Duh duh duh….

10:56 a.m. – Arrivals are starting to trickle in…

11:09 a.m. – There are a lot of people arriving but not one celebrity yet…

11:16 a.m. – A car is arriving and doing burnouts. It says “Medusa” on the side. I’m assuming that it’s some small indie film.

11:23 a.m. – Oh, first arrival it’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan from Watchmen! He’s with Hillary Burton from White Collar. They come right on over and sign and sign and sign.

I swear Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the nicest guy ever! He is so fan friendly.

11:26 a.m. – Jeffrey literally takes time with each person who requested a photo or autograph.

11:28 a.m. – Oh there’s Demian Bichir! I whip out my Weeds cast signed poster for him and hold it out! Demian see’s it and comes right on over to me first.

He signs the poster beautifully, and tells me, “I love this poster!” I tell him, me too!

LOL.. So nice! Demian Bichir continues to sign for more fans down the line.

11:34 a.m. – Jeffrey Dean Morgan just finished and is headed back to the event.

11:36 a.m. – Zoe Saldana is arriving.

She gets out of the car and heads right over. She goes just to the right of me and then then goes the other way! NOOOOO… Ah… She signs for the line going the other way.

Crap. Ah well…

11:42 a.m. – Penelope Ann Miller is here and comes right on over.

She signs for everyone on my right. I don’t have anything for her so I’m not too broken up about not getting her. lol… She is very nice though.

11:49 a.m. – There’s Anne Heche… She comes towards the fans, but says I’m not signing but I wanted to say hello. So she stands there and waves. O-Kay!

11:54 a.m. – Christopher Plummer is arriving.. He waves and heads right on in.

11:56 a.m. – Rachael Harris is here, and comes on over to sign. Erica get Rachel on her Hangover poster. She is very nice.

12:11 p.m. – Castle star Stana Katic is here now… Who would have thought she would be here?

I didn’t bring my Castle mini poster so again I have nothing. That’s the problem with events like this sometimes you can’t think of everything.

12:14 p.m. – Stana is very nice and signs for pretty much everyone. She does personalize everything.

12:30 p.m. – William H Macy is here and he comes right on over to sign for everyone.

12:31 p.m. – Oh crap there’s Kate Beckinsale. We yell for Kate but she only waves and goes in. Grumble…

12:32 p.m. – William H. Macy continues to sign down the line and is quite nice. He signs my Pleasantville mini poster and personalizes a Shameless piece for Erica.

12:36 p.m. – Shailene Woodley just arrived and is coming over to sign.

She hits the far end, and then continues down, she misses our section but goes over to Scotty’s section so he gets her.

12:39 p.m. – Wait, who is signing on the other end… It’s Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain!

They are both starting at one end and continuing to sign. Man oh man… I don’t have anything for either one of them, but I’m helping CB with Jessica Chastain.

12:43 p.m. – Jessica is now at our section. I got her on CB’s mini poster for the Debt. She is hyper nice. I mean like damn.

Michael Shannon just passed us. I got him on DVD Dave’s Bug DVD.

12:45 p.m. – Man, that was a crazy bunch up!

12:49 p.m. – Lou Diamond Phillips is here.

He is signing and taking photos for anyone who asks. Man, how kind.

12:53 p.m. – Willem Dafoe is here. He comes right on over and signs and signs. Again, I don’t have anything for him, so you know… What can you do?

12:58 p.m. – There’s Matthew Lillard! I actually have something for him!

I whip out my Serial Mom mini poster and Erica takes my Serial Mom presskit. Matthew looks over and is like, “I had to come over when I saw Serial Mom!”

He was very nice and signed a few for people down the line.

1:06 p.m. – Jason Isaacs is arriving. He runs over and signs a few for people before headed out.

1:09 p.m. – Benjamin Bratt… Wow, who knew he would be here.

He arrives and runs over. He signs for most of the people to the right.

1:11 p.m. – Oh there’s Patricia Clarkson! I love her!

I don’t have anything for her, but I love her! She sees Erica’s Easy A poster and runs on over. However, she veers to the right and misses it. She signs for people and then heads back. Erica yells but my poster. Patricia sees it and runs back over to sign it.

1:14 p.m. – Ian Somerhalder arrives and toys with the crowd for a second.

Matt Bomer also arrives and signs on the other side.

1:15 p.m. – Matt Bomer, nice as ever, signs down the line for everyone, just as Ian Somerhalder runs over.

He’s not much into photos but tries to sign a bunch for people.

1:18 p.m. – Ethan Hawke is here! Damn! I didn’t think to bring anything. Ethan stops for a photo at the Medusa car first.

1:19 p.m. – Giovanni Ribisi is here and comes over to sign for people. He doesn’t hit our section but again, nothing for him! LOL…

1:20 p.m. – Simon Baker is here! He comes over and signs a few before heading inside.

1:23 p.m. – Ethan Hawke is coming over to us now… Man… I wish I had something for him!

I’m pretty bummed. He is making random faces though when he’s signing, lol…

1:29 p.m. – Oh crap, there’s Michelle Williams. She looks adorable! We all yell for her and holy crap she’s coming right on over.

I have a My Week With Marilyn mini poster and a W magazine. Erica takes my magazine and Michelle is super nice signing both.

She looks cute. Adorable… She’s with Busy Philips!

I love Busy, she is adorable as well and signs for everyone. Michelle goes down the line and is super kind.

1:32 p.m. – Shit! Captain Kirk is here! Yeah, it’s Chris Pine. Chris is coming right on over.

I have my Star Trek mini poster out and Chris is very nice and signing for everyone.

I’m a tad taken aback, perhaps Chris saw his name on the MTF worst signer list and is trying to mend his ways. Either way… I’m pretty stoked!

1:43 p.m. – Terrence Howard is here and comes over to sign for everyone.

He only hits the end of the line, but says he’ll come back.. Yeah, we’ve heard that before. lol…

1:53 p.m. – The show is going to start, or has started. So, now we wait for people to leave…

2:13 p.m. – I’m chilling on my handy stool kind of recapping the day. So far, I’m not sure it was wort all the wait and aggravation, but… You never know…

2:45 p.m. – oh a car is arriving… It’s Olivia Wilde! All at once everyone yells Olivia in unison. it’s like a thunderous yell. lol… Olivia waves and heads in… Doh!

3:14 p.m. – Wait, there’s another car.. It’s Colin Farrel! We all yell for him and he is super charming and says he will sign on the way out.

3:34 p.m. – Man, I wish Colin could have run over… Doh…

3:39 p.m. – People are leaving… Oh wait, there’s Zac Efron… Ummmm Why is he here?

He does come over and signs like five before he heads back… Sigh…

3:41 p.m. – Joseph Gordon Levitt is leaving and ignores everyone yet again…

3:43 p.m. – Anne Heche is leaving and is now coming over to sign for us.

How kind… Insert sarcasm here…

3:49 p.m. – Lou Diamond Phillips is leaving and he’s again coming over to sign. lol…

3:52 p.m. – Bunches of people are leaving but I can’t really see everyone….

3:54 p.m. – Kate Beckinsale is leaving and gives us the wave… Colin Farrel… He runs over signs four takes a few pictures and then say, I have to go…. Grrrr. So much for signing after.

4:02 p.m. – Academy Award Nominee Jonah Hill is leaving with an entourage…

Seriously… Ugh… He comes over and signs for like four seconds. Thank you Jonah Hill for gracing us with your presence…

4:05 p.m. – Janet McTeer is leaving. She comes over and signs for people.

I have an Albert Nobbs mini poster but it’s not boarded so I don’t really wave it around…

4:10 p.m. – Olivia Wilde is leaving. We all yell for her and she comes right on over.

She starts at the end and is working her way down. Wait, there’s Kirsten Dunst! She comes over too. Kirsten starts a little earlier than Olivia and signs and signs.

I got her on my Marie Antoinette mini poster and my Melancholia mini poster as well.

4:11 p.m. – Now Olivia Wilde is coming… I have my GQ magazine out and DVD Dave doesn’t have anything so he take my Angelino Magazine.

Olivia signs the Angelino magazine and then she gets to me and I ask her to sign the GQ magazine. She smiles and says sure! I then thanked her for coming over.

Erica didn’t have the same experience I did. She was right next to me and had a small Tron card for Olivia and Erica got skipped. Erica said, “Olivia you skipped me!” And Olivia looked and her and kept going. Ouch!

4:14 p.m. – Alexander Skarsgard is leaving now. We are calling him over, but he’s not being really responsive which is rare for him.

Usually, Alexander Skarsgard is super awesome. Today… he’s being a little standoffish…

4:16 p.m. – We’re still coaxing Alexander Skarsgard to come over… Finally he relents and signs my Entertainment Weekly magazine.

DVD Dave doesn’t have anything so he gets Alexander on my OUT Magazine. CB gets Alexander on his True Blood season 3 dvd set.

4:23 p.m. – Michelle Williams is leaving and wow, she’s coming over again to finish the side of the barricade she didn’t get to the first time around… Now, that… That’s class people… Adorable.

4:25 p.m. – Willem Dafoe is leaving and he heads on over again to sign. CB gets a photo with him and decides this is the best time to jump up and down swinging his poster board in the air missing Willem Dafoe’s face my inches… Really… Sigh…

And on that note we have to take off so Erica can meet the set designer of Harry Potter at another event. Man oh man.. What can you do right? A long long day… I need to crash…
