NYCC round up! A look at the full con! Marvel News! DC Stamps! Cosplay is Not Consent! TV and Movie News! Take Home the Exclusive Disney Pin for Tomorrowland!
This year’s sold-out New York Comic Con (NYCC) was busier and funner than ever! As the second biggest pop culture convention in North America, the Javit’s center was filled to the brim with fans of all different kinds of genres!
From the world of comics, Marvel came to play with news of a new Marvel Experience tour which will include attractions to fill 2 acres worth of 7 huge domes. Visitors can see a life-size Avengers Quinjet, a 360 degree 3D movie and a 4D motion ride. The first tour stop is in Phoenix. For more information and tour dates click here.
Marvel also hosted the usual barrage of signings including the most popular signing of the con, the cast of Daredevil from the upcoming Netflix TV series which you can read more about here.
From the world of DC, they brought a collection of Batman costumes through the years (including the Sad Batman from the upcoming Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice)…
…and the US Post Office released a set of Batman-themed stamps.
NYCC also had some top-notch cosplay with the Eastern Championship of Cosplay. I’ve already posted some of my favorite cosplay, but it was also great to see that NYCC made clear their stance on Cosplay is Not Consent with signs all over the building.
Book publishers were busy with tons of giveaways…
…and booths had tons of exclusives like this Star Wars Bantha from Hallmark.
The movie and TV studios came out to play with panels for Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland which featured the surprise comic con debut of George Clooney. Tomorrowland is definitely on my list of must-see movies next year!
How to Train Your Dragon offered up a chance to fly with the dragons in an Oculus Rift experience at the booth.
Nicholas Hoult, Michael Shannon, Kodi Smit-McPhee and director Jake Paltrow came to discuss the futuristic Western Young Ones
And there were some of the hottest TV shows including The Walking Dead (on the eve of the new season which was commemorated with a creepy, giant, zombie hand that counted down the days to go in Times Square)…
…Gotham, Person of Interest and Sleepy Hollow.
Starz stepped out with a panel for Da Vinci’s Demons and a chance for fans to best star Tom Riley in a riddle game called Beat the Genius.
The pirates of Black Sails also hosted Eleanor’s Tavern with drinks, swag and a meet and greet with fans before the cast sets sail for the recently announced third season. Before they left, they did spill the beans on what’s ahead for season two which starts in January on Starz.
One TV panel with some of the biggest stars? The Sesame Street panel feature Grover! Too bad he wasn’t cosplaying Super Grover…
And several TV shows made its first public appearances including Powers (based on the popular graphic novel)…
…and The Librarians, a new show based on the popular TNT movies starring Noah Wyle.
I had a chance to talk the stars of The Librarians (Lindy Booth, Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane and John Kim) who will preview what’s in store for the zippy action series which premieres in December. Look for my interview later this week!
All in all, it was a really packed trip with plenty of fun and surprises! NYCC is a great con for me to end the yea. There’s always ton of things to do and see, but it isn’t so crazy busy that I constantly stress over missing something. I keep plenty busy running around, but I can breathe a bit. (But then I go home and then crash for a week!)
And that wraps 2014 con season for me!!! Don’t forget that I’m also giving out one of the highly collectable Tomorrowland pins which is perfect for any Disney collector! Click here to enter!
Stay tuned!
